A preposition describes a relationship between other words in a sentence.
The book is on the table.
The book is beneath the table.
The book is leaning against the table.
The book is beside the table.
She held the book over the table.
She read the book during class.
Prepositions

Prepositions are used before nouns to give additional information in a sentence. Usually, prepositions are used to show where something is located or when something happened.
